Melody Movement

Melody Movement with Melody Bear is a creative teaching curriculm of movement, dance and ballet for age 2-4 years (pre-school).  Melody Bear is the focal point of the classes and her imaginative stories, music, songs and picture cards create an inspirational world of dance and movement.  The non-competitive syllabi and awards schemes motivate, delight and inspire the young dancers, allowing every child to achieve and shine.

Melody Bear

In each session, children bring their own teddies and dolls and they sit them together with Melody Bear in the centre of the studio.  The class starts with Melody Bear warm up songs danced around her and her toy friends.  Melody Bear is then positioned on her chair with the children’s toys to watch the travelling and skill based exercises.  I then bring Melody Bear back to the group  when it is time to share Melody Bear’s story or ‘surprise’ leading into an exciting creative theme.  Props and dressing up may also be included in this section.  Melody Bear’s many creative themes include a combination of magical tales and real life stories helping children to develop imagination, role play skills and to learn about the world around them.  The class finishes with Melody Bear’s goodbye song or lullaby.  Before everyone goes home, Melody Bear presents a sticker to each child telling them which movement or dance she liked best of all that week.  Sometimes one of the dancer’s may have a ‘special day’ as they have completed 2 sticker charts (this is part of the optional awards scheme).  They enjoy holding Melody Bear at the front of the train dance and Melody Bear presents them with their medal.

Freestyle is the trendiest and most popular form of dance in the UK today. It involves runs, spins, kicks and leaps as well as many other diverse steps with lots of different arm and hand actions.
